DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DIVISIONS
PERMITTING
Permitting staff can assist with how to complete application requirements, schedule a building or rental inspection, and update you on the status of your application. This Division processes contractor licensing and bonding and updating property and business ownership.
No permits will be approved without a current recorded deed.
Some permit applications may require additional forms requested on the application. Additional forms may be found on this page under each Division. Please direct questions about these forms to the appropriate Division.
Privilege Licenses, Transient Vendor Licenses, and Solicitor’s License Applications are reviewed by the City’s Department of Finance, www.tupeloms.gov/departments/finance.

BUILDING
The Building Division oversees all construction in the City of Tupelo as well as the Site Plan Review team, Tupelo Licensing Commission, and Blight and Demolition Program.
The Site Plan Review team meets every Thursday to coordinate proper permitting and approvals of all commercial construction and renovation projects. Project meetings with the Site Plan Review team and pre-construction conferences for commercial development can be scheduled with the Plan Review Coordinator to ensure work is within compliance of all Code standards.
No land development is permitted within the City without submission of a Commercial Construction application and Land Development application to the Building Division and preliminary review by the Site Plan Review team.

PLANNING AND ZONING
The Planning Division oversees the development and implementation of the City’s planning and growth goals through Zoning Administration, Community Outreach, and development of the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Development Code.
Pre-Development meetings with the Planning Division are required for all applications requiring compatible or flexible use review, variance, and for all subdivisions.

CODE ENFORCEMENT
The Code Enforcement Division assists property owners in ensuring their compliance with the City of Tupelo Code of Ordinances and Development Code. It is the responsibility of property owners to maintain that their property is in compliance. See the links below for information in understanding compliance and reporting violations. If you have received a Letter of Violation from Code Enforcement or a Citation from Law Enforcement related to a Code violation, please contact our office to resolve the violation or pay associated fines.
